ChargeVazhi privacy policy. Last updated 28 October 2026.
ChargeVazhi is a free Android app that shows public EV chargers in India. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no in-app payments. We run no server and we do not receive or store your data. Outside services receive limited data when you use maps and when you plan a trip (road route), and Google Maps receives your trip only if you tap Open route in Google Maps, as explained under Requests to other services.
What stays on your phone: your diary, trips, notes, favourites, car settings and reminders are saved in a database on your phone. Android Auto Backup is switched off for the app, the app does not send them to any server of ours and we cannot see them. Uninstalling the app deletes them. You can also delete items in the app and export or import your own file; an exported file is saved where you choose and is yours to keep or delete.
If you allow location, your phone location is processed on the device to centre the map and as the start of a trip plan. We do not store it. It leaves the phone only in the requests described below: if you plan a trip from My location while Road route online is on, that start point is sent to the routing service.
Notifications are used only for charge timers and service reminders you set. The app asks Android to restart those reminders after the phone reboots.
Searching for a town or station is done inside the app and works offline. What you type in the search box is not sent anywhere.
Requests to other services: some features need the internet and send data off your phone to services run by other organisations under their own policies. We do not control or store what they receive.
- Map tiles and offline maps: OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org). It receives your IP address, the map area you are viewing and the area of any offline map you download. The app sends its name, version and the developer contact email in the request. OpenFreeMap says its access logs do not contain IP addresses, but error logs may include the IP address and requested address (deleted after 7 days), and IP logging may be turned on for up to 30 days if it detects abuse.
- Road routes (Road route online setting, on by default, can be turned off in Car settings): when you plan a trip, the start point, end point and your IP address are sent to the public OSRM demo server (Project OSRM, router.project-osrm.org, run by FOSSGIS e.V.), using OpenStreetMap data (ODbL). The app sends its name, version and the developer contact email in the request. It is a free community service with no guarantee, it can be slow or unavailable, and it has its own terms and logging that we do not control. With the setting off, trip distance is a straight line x 1.3 worked out on your phone and nothing is sent. If you tap Open route in Google Maps, your start, end and charger stops are passed to Google Maps, which handles them under Google's own privacy policy.
Station data, town names and tariff notes are built into the app and are not looked up while you use it.
What we do not do: we do not sell your data, show ads, use analytics or crash-reporting services, or ask for your name, email or phone number in the app.

Estimates only: prices, charge times, ranges and trip costs are estimates from listed data (some from 2025 or earlier) and your settings. They are not live prices or guarantees. Station data can be out of date.
